Nuttu / Baby Sweater

Joskus haluan tehdä jotain pientä hyväntekeväisyyttäkin. Teko ei ole iso, mutta siitä tulee edes itselle parempi mieli. Nyt pitäisi vielä saada Nuttu varastolle Tuuriin ja sieltä perille Etiopiaan. Itse tein nuttuni pyöröpuikoilla, ohje on myös edestakaisin neulottavaan, mutta siinä joutuu ompelemaan sivusaumat ja kun se ei oo mun lempparipuuhaa, niin kivempi näin. Ylemmässä kuvassa on oikeammat värit.

Sain Pirkko Tuppuraiselta luvan julkaista edestakaisin neulotus nersion ohjeen englanniksi täällä, löytyy tuolta tekstin alaosasta (muokkasin hänen ohjettaan hiukan).

Something I really want to do something good for others a charity of some sort. Now I've knitted a baby sweater for an Ethiopian baby. Here is a site that has more information of the project: Baby Sweaters to Ethiopia. I knit my baby sweater in the round but the pattern in English is with seams. The colors of the sweater are better on the upper picture.

Pattern The one I used, You can find the introductions in English from a Facebook group written there by Pirkko Tuppurainen. I asked if I can write the pattern here in my blog and she said it's fine, so you can find the pattern in the end of this post. It's a bit different than Pirkkos own pattern, but based on it.

Yardage 177 meters / 193 yards

Needles 3,5 mm / US 4 circular needles

Baby Sweater to Ethiopia - pattern

You can use any fingering, DK or Sport weight yarn and the needle size depending on the yarn.

Co 70 sts.

Row 1: *K2, p2* repeat to end, turn. 

Repeat row 1 until the piece measures 22 cm / 8,5".

Row 2: K24, then *k2, p2* repeat 5 times (it's 20 sts), k26, turn.

Row 3: K24, *p2, k2* repeat 5 times (20 sts), p2, k24, turn. 

Repeat rows 2 and 3 untill the whole piece measures 25 cm / 10". (This part is 3 cm / 1,5")

Row 4: K24, fasten off 22 sts, k24, turn.

Row 5: Now you knit one shoulder piece  at a time. K24, turn. 

Repeat row 5 until shoulder piece measures about 6 cm / 2,5". Knit the other shoulder piece alike.

Row 6: K24, co 22 sts, k24.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the whole piece measures 34 cm / 14" (This part is 3 cm / 1,5").

Repeat Row 1 until the whole piece measures 56 cm / 22,5" (This part is 22 cm / 8,5").

Sew the side seams, remember to leave holes for the arms.
